Overflowing Toilet Issues

With it being the summertime many kids are home a bit more than often which might not be the best if your kids are busybodies. We’re not sure if they play in the toilet or if the toilet plays them at this point. What we do know is that nasty toilet water can be a health hazard as it spills in your bathroom. Let’s first look at the reasons why your toilet may overflow:
An overflowing toilet is caused by one of three things:
- a clogged or blocked drain that doesn't allow for a proper flush,
- an improperly adjusted float that allows the tank to overfill or
- a blocked vent pipe that replaces the air in the pipe after each flush.
When your toilet overflows you know that it is nasty but what you may not know is that an overflowing sewer or your overflowing toilet in your home or business can also bring with it bacteria that can make people sick. Ailments like leptospirosis, hepatitis A, tetanus, and E Coli can come from such an overflow.
