How Meteorologists Predict Storms
7/19/2019 (Permalink)
Meteorologists inform us of incoming storms. By doing so, they are warning you to take precautions to avoid potential damages. But how do weather forecasters predict incoming storms?
By using satellite imagery, computer models amd air observations, meteorologists can detect instable conditions or abnormal patterns in the air. Using physics and other dynamics, computer models predict the formation of thunderstorms before they occur. On the other hand, radar technology and satellites track the storm once it is formed.
Predicting storms is important because it helps us to be informed and therefore better prepare for possible damages. Additionally, meteorology assists airplanes and their passengers in staying safe while in flight.
